THE HOLE IN THE FENCE

drama / Mexico, Poland / 2021 / 1h 40m

Exposing the fault lines and schisms of contemporary Mexican society

Every year, a prestigious religious school for boys sends its teenage students, “the sons of Mexico’s elite class”, to a secluded countryside campsite. Under the watchful eyes of their teachers and priests, the boys are guided through their physical and moral development. On the very first day, the students find a hole in the camp’s perimeter fence. Does it mean that an intruder has broken in? Stories begin to spread about the dangerous neighboring village that surely must be full of criminals involved in organ trafficking. Things only get more frantic when a second hole is found… How are young minds subjected to collective religious indoctrination? How easily is mass hysteria produced? A thriller exploring the education system that serves to form the future economic elite in Mexico.
