The secrets of the dead are killing secrets.

Although his job is unpleasant, Stênio cannot complain about a lack of work. The brutal, violent world of gangsterism in Sao Paulo keeps him busy. The man is a morgue worker and spends every evening of his life in a cold and damp room. His only companions are dead bandits, smart guys and overzealous fans. Although he doesn’t boast about it on his CV, he has a skill that makes his lonely night shifts more interesting – Stênio can talk to dead people. It is impossible for him to get bored at work, when every new dead body necessarily wants to talk about their lives, unresolved issues or a lonely family for the last time. One of them tells the hero of our tale a secret that almost destroys his life. Stênio decides to use the information provided by the deceased for the purpose of revenge…but not everything goes according to the plan, and the price he will have to pay will be extremely high.

“The Night Shifter” initially appears to be a story about a contemporary Charon listening to the last words of the deceased. However, Dennison Ramalho gradually changes the direction of the film. It tells the story about the destructive power of revenge dressed up as a horror movie about haunting. The spirit greets the characters with classic tricks, but after some time the act of slamming doors and knocking on windows develops into more and more cunning and ingenious tricks. The man’s fight is unequal… as he approaches the brink of madness, but he cannot give up… and we can’t miss the conclusion.
The script for the film is based on a novel by Marco de Castro.
