„’Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you”.
Australia, the mid-80’s. Seventeen years old Vicki Maloney gets lured into a car and kidnaped by unstable lovers. Chained to a bed and abused, she observes the relation between the couple and realizes that in order to survive she has to destroy the manic bond between the two psychopaths. When John’s attention shifts from his wife to Vicki, she sees an opportunity to heat up the assailants’ relations.
A psychological thriller based on true events is taking place in Perth, where the director of this feature debut comes from. Excellent acting, perfectly shown scenery of the 80’s, moving soundtrack, attention to detail, stunning pictures and brutal scenes of violence mixed with the unspoken that fires up imagination, sum up to be one of the best and the strongest thrillers of past few years. Even though the action unfolds in the slow tempo of home refuge, amazing production of “Hounds of love” keeps you on your toes from the very first scene till the end, repulses and thrills at the same time and stays in your memory for a long time. Viewer discretion is advised.
