drama, horror, thriller/ Canada / 2017/Polish premiere

Be careful what you wish for, someone might be listening.

Leah is a teenager who after her father’s death moves out with her emotionally unstable mother (Laurie Holden „The Walking Dead”) to a cabin in the woods. Not overly fond with the radical changes, the frustrated and distressed girl seeks help in dark magic.

The idea for this thriller begot in the mind of Adam MacDonald, during the read of the Hollywood legend William Friedkin biography, multiple winner of the Film Academy Award for the Best Director, known from such movies as „The French Connection”, „Exorcist”, „Killer Joe”. At that time Adam recalled, that Friedkin also directed „The Guardian” and decided to watch that movie once again. At that moment  the director heard the name of Pyewacket and so the idea was born for his own movie. The last plot twist needed to finish the screenplay was invented with the help of mediation and the Norse black metal.

Adam is a long time fan of the psychological thriller-horror genre. „As a child I watched The Evil Dead, I was terryfied and I liked that feeling. Later I watched The Shining and from that moment I was obsessed with movies in this genre, because I adore the emotions, that are being delivered.
It was something that exeeded the normal, dull life and it drew me in” he said.
