JULIUS RAMSAY – THE WALKING DEAD DIRECTOR AT SPLAT!FILMFEST
18.09 (Monday) / after the screening of MIDNIGHTERS / Sala Widowiskowa

Although Julius Ramsey is coming to the festival to present his feature début (“Midnighters”), he’s not a beginner in the film world at all. He directed and edited many acclaimed series, including an instant classic “The Walking Dead”, “Scream” and “Outcast”. Before he became known for directing “The Walking Dead”, he was an editor for such productions as “Alias” and “Battlestar Galactica” which earned him two nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award. This prize for best TV productions is one of the four most important cultural awards in the USA, together with the Oscars, Tony and Grammy Awards.
His experience in post-production was a valuable asset while making “Midnighters”. As Ramsey said – one film is made three times: first at the scriptwriting stage, then during filming, and the third time in post-production. And in the case of his début, he was responsible for all three stages. This way, he shows that making good and professional cinema is possible without Hollywood, huge budget or overgrown crew. He proved that all you need is talent, knowledge, and great determination (the director reached out to over 300 estate agents to find a perfect house for the set of his film). Ramsey is a rare instance of an artist who has knowledge and experience in different stages of film-making, and who knows the process from idea being born to looking for money, organising the set, filming, and post-production.
Julius Ramsey, who grew up surrounded by horror films and is a genre cinema enthusiast, is coming to Poland especially for Splat!FilmFest with his brother ALSTON RAMSAY scenarist.
