A disturbing, dark horror that is inspired by the Tunisian folk horror and real events.

Action takes place in the scenery of modern Tunisia and focuses on the character of Yasmin, a student of jurnalism and her two peers from the university, that in the frame of a project decide to solve an old case of Mongi. Woman found in the middle of nowhere with her throat slit. For over 20 years kept in a mental asylum and nobody knows who or where she comes from. If this was not enough, in her surroundings, regulary occur things hard to explain. That is why she is suspected of being a witch. During this private investigation students delve into an archaic and sinister world of the Dachra village. A place isolated from the outside world, full of goats, silent women, dried meat and followers of a bizzare cult. Yasmin is implicated in the villagers dark secrets and takes a desperate attempt to stay alive. „In Tunisian the word Dachra means a small isolated village. I was always fascinated by the subjects connected with the human nature, its good sides as well but most importantly the dark, hidden aspects. In my view, magic is one of the most crazy concepts that humanity has created, leading to extreme situations such as corpse exhumation or children beheading. Over the course of few years this phenomenon rises in the countries of North Africa. On the first glimpse they resamble different forms of spirituality, however they can lead to unimaginable cruelty and violence”. – states the director.

Abdelhamid Bouchnak (bron in 1984) screenwriter, director, editor and producer. Studied in the Ecole Supérieure de l’Audiovisuel et du Cinéma E.S.A.C film school in Gammath, Tunisia. He graduated in 2008 with a short film Miroir. The same year he won an award for the Best Young Director
